Bebington Ladies 4-1 Knutsford Ladies
KNUTSFORD performed better than the result last weekend suggests, although they traded places with their hosts afterwards in the table.
A visit from leaders Crewe Vagrants seconds follows this Saturday.
However they should not be daunted; after all, they are the only side to have left south Cheshire undefeated this season following a 1-1 draw between the teams in October.
Knutsford were unfortunate to fall behind early at Bebington after their opponents made progress on the right.
The visitors attempted to rally, with Charlotte Chew and Sarah Evans prominent in their best moments, only to trail 2-0 after the Wirral outfit converted from a penalty-corner.
Gill Lunt halved their arrears when she finished neatly after Elin Rees and Millie Fitton had combined on the left, while Becky Lynes marshalled a defence that held firm until the interval.
Bebington restored a two-goal advantage in the second-half when they countered, but Knutsford continued to apply pressure.
Liz Ball provided plenty of possession for the visitors’ attackers, while Leigh Carroll-Jones showed determination to win back the ball deep in opposition territory.
The visitors went closest to scoring when Fitton sliced inches wide of an upright before the home team made safe maximum points when they punished sloppy defending.
