HOLDERS Gary Long and Bob Jones will take on Mobberley youngsters Jamie Hunter and Josh Street in the JME Transport Alternate Pairs semi-finals next month.
The Brook Street duo received a bye to the last four, while their opponents outplayed old hands Andy Long and Steve Prosser – also members at Brook Street – to win by a huge 109-point margin.
Tony Crompton and Mike Roylance, of Mobberley, made light of a 30-points per frame handicap to ease past Mere’s Steven Bloor and Philip Simpson.
Meanwhile Mobberley combination, Bruce Tulley and Mark Newall, came a cropper in their head-to-head with Richard Owen and Chris Bushell of Mere.
The competition resumes at Wilmslow Cons in a fortnight.

MOBBERLEY B stay second in the Knutsford and District Amateur League’s top-flight despite losing at home to Wilmslow Cons A.
Wilmslow Cons B hammered Alderley Union, runners-up last season, while Shaw Heath squeezed past Brook Street A on aggregate.
Champions Mobberley A are 27 points clear at the Division One summit after a third whitewash win of the campaign, this time against clubmates Mobberley C.
Mobberley D edged out Brook Street B in Division Two, although their hold on the second promotion place is under threat from Mere A after they beat back-markers Mere C.
Wilmslow RBL lost to Mere B, while runaway leaders Tatton did not have a fixture.
