Knutsford Ladies 5-1 Chester Ladies 3rd

KNUTSFORD followed a sluggish first-half performance with a polished one in the second period to extend an unbeaten run.

They took the lead when Sarah Fielding’s reverse-stick shot found the net, only for the hosts to restore parity before the break from a short-corner routine.

The visitors raised their game afterwards, and made their class tell.

Hannah Webb’s half-volley accounted for one of their goals, while Fielding added two more to her personal tally to complete a hat-trick.

For the second of those strikes, she applied the finishing touch to a set-piece that also included Liz Ball and Charlotte Chew.

Gill Lunt raided down the right to tee up Millie Fitton for a tap-in to make it 5-1, a result that leaves them fifth in Cheshire Women’s League Division Two.

Only table-topping Golborne have scored more goals though.

A trip to Oswestry awaits on Saturday.
