MERE B completed a week to remember when they eliminated higher-ranked Brook Street A from the Team Knockout at the first-round stage on Thursday.

Boosted by a derby success against their clubmates Mere A 48 hours earlier, the Division Two side picked up where they had left off to win by 62 points on aggregate.

There was an upset at Wilmslow RBL too, where Tatton did not even need the benefit of a handicap head-start to beat Brook Street A.

Holders Mobberley A avoided an upset by ending the challenge of Wilmslow Cons B, while Brook Street B edged the night’s closest contest by just a dozen points against Mere C.

The competition resumes at the quarter-finals stage in December.

TATTON continue to set the pace in a race to be promoted to the Knutsford and District Amateur League’s top-flight.

Paul Townsend’s frame success against Chris Bailey, during which he amassed 98 points, was a highlight of their whitewash of Wilmslow RBL on Thursday.

Second-placed Mere A lost ground after losing to Mere B, while at the bottom Brook Street B beat back-markers Mere C.

Mobberley A continue to lead the way in Division One after brushing aside Brook Street A.

Meanwhile their closest-rivals, Shaw Heath and Mobberley B, both lost – to Wilmslow Cons B and Mobberley C respectively.

Wilmslow Cons A edged Alderley Union in the other match played.
