KNUTSFORD rider Lesley Mitton’s progress to the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between November 14 and 19 follows a recent victory with her 12 year-old bay mare, Heart of Savannah.

They secured a Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur second round win at SouthView Equestrian Centre in Wettenhall.

In a strong class where 11 combinations made it through to the jump off, Mitton and Heart of Savannah picked up the pace to deliver an unbeatable double clear in 34.65 seconds.

Competition was fended off from second-placed Billie Hall from Telford on board Handels Danny Boy, a six-year-old bay gelding.

The pair put forward a strong challenge to cross the finish with all fences standing in 36.17 seconds.

Georgina Beeson from Stafford took third place with 11-year-old bay mare, Jazzy Footwork, registering a double clear in 36.79 seconds.
