SHAW Heath were the biggest winners in the Knutsford and District League’s top-flight on the opening day of the season.

A 6-1 success against newly-promoted Wilmslow Cons B was better than champions Mobberley A managed against visiting Brook Street A.

Mobberley B proved too strong for Mobberley C, who also step up from Division Two, while Wilmslow Cons A edged a close encounter with their guests Alderley Union on aggregate.

The withdrawal of Morley has left Division Two with seven teams.

Mobberley D sat out the opening week, and Mere C made the early running with a 5-2 success against Brook Street B.

Mere A hammered Mere B, while relegated Tatton started life at a lower level with a victory against likely promotion-challengers Wilmslow RBL.
