Knutsford 4-0 Blackpool

KNUTSFORD started what they hope will be a run-in that ends in promotion when they brushed aside Blackpool last weekend.

It is the Black Knights’ fourth successive win in the North West Men’s League top-flight – which is now their best sequence of results this season.

Captain Dave Price has urged his players not to lose focus ahead of a testing trip to Urmston this Saturday.

“You can’t put a limit on what you achieve – the more you dream, the further you get,” he said afterwards

Knutsford took the lead after 10 minutes at the weekend when Danny Butterworth deflected Graeme Wolfdenden’s shot into the net after the attacker had found space inside the visitors’ D.

Blackpool changed their tactics, and frustrated their opponents for a period until Mat Hodge’s introduction allowed the hosts to apply pressure higher up the pitch.

A second goal duly arrived when Price applied the finishing touch to a short-corner routine.

His side improved in the second period, keeping the ball better to starve the visitors of possession.

And Knutsford added to their lead after Keelan Sherwani and Wolfenden combined on the right, the latter teeing up Jonny Price to slot a smart finish past Blackpool’s goalkeeper.

They continued to attack, increasing their goal tally in the closing stages when Jonny Price turned provider for Sherwani following a break up the left touchline.

And the wing man made no mistake, finishing expertly from an acute angle.
