KNUTSFORD have been reinstated in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup.

They will visit Broadheath Central, from Cheshire League Two, in the last 16 next month.

Reds were initially knocked out by neighbours Egerton in the first meeting between the town’s two Cheshire League sides last month.

After a goalless 90 minutes, strikes from Omry Perel and Sean Nolan earned Yellows passage to the third round.

But competition chiefs confirmed this week that a ‘home walkover’ has been awarded to Knutsford, at the expense of Egerton who fielded an ineligible player.

Meanwhile, Reds climbed to third in the top flight thanks to a 4-2 win at Crewe FC.

Liam Myers, denied an early goal for offside, handed his team a 2-0 lead that was cancelled out before the break but Scott Beattie and Terence Butler sealed the points.

Without David Owens, Dean Warburton, Lee Mannion, James Pickford and Tom Rutter, manager Scott Dignan had to reshuffle against a new-look Crewe side.

The opening goal arrived on 17 minutes, striker Myers controlling the ball 25 yards out and turning his marker to curl an exquisite right-foot shot into the top left corner.

Ebby Rezayan, enjoying an excellent game at the heart of Knutsford’s midfield, threaded a first-time pass to judge Myers' run to perfection before coolly rounding the keeper for 2-0 seven minutes later.

A Sean Lynch header from a corner rebounded off the post but Knutsford took their foot off the gas and Crewe returned to level terms with goals from free kicks finished off by JJ Bailey and Nathan Southern.

Reds weathered a storm at the start of the second half before teamwork and commitment guided them home.

A Butler header went inches wide and then another effort was cleared off the line as Knutsford picked up the tempo.

A drilled Cartner corner was met by Beattie to head home for 3-2 and Butler scrambled home the final goal in the 68th minute to reward all the threat down the right side involving Myers and Rezayan.

Myers lobbed the keeper from 40 yards to have a second goal ruled out for offside, while Ryan Williamson skimmed the bar with a long-range effort for Crewe in the closing stages.

Knutsford: Moore, Wilbraham, Lynch, Jenyons, Brotherton, Butler, Rezayan, Beattie, Cartner, Myers, Lee (Smart). Subs not used: Mattison, Dignan.

Knutsford host Eagle Sports on Saturday, kick off 2pm, while Knutsford A visit Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds.
