TOFT collected the points they needed from a draw with Timperley on Saturday that secures both teams’ place in the Cheshire County League’s Premier Division.

Toby Drummond’s men finish eighth.

They restricted their guests to 191-8 at Booth’s Park after losing the toss, with Pete Talbot (4-51) and club chairman Nigel Muirhead (2-13) – on his return to the first team – the pick of the bowlers.

Toft tumbled to 79-7 after failing to recover from losing openers Toby Drummond and Morgan Clark in quick succession.

However James Drummond (53no) and Joe Stanley (37no) shared in an unbeaten eighth-wicket partnership worth 70 runs, carefully built during 25 overs, to take the home team to 149-7 at stumps.

Sam Hatcher (18) and Ed Stubbs (16) were the only other batsmen to reach double-figures.

Toft’s seconds lost by three wickets in the return fixture after posting 230-8.

Will Dunkerley (44) and Scott Craig (40) led the way before their opponents reached their target in the penultimate over at 231-7.

The Knutsford outfit occupy seventh place in the final table.

On Sunday, Toft’s youthful third team were dismissed for 152 by Bramhall.

Max Nightingale, 13, then took the only wicket to fall as the hosts eased to a comfortable victory.
