KNUTSFORD'S Cheshire League title-winning team picked captain Steve Jenyons as their player of the year during Reds' annual awards ceremony.

It was not the only prize the defender took home either after the club's supporters voted for him too.

However he shared first place in that poll with James Pickford.

Promising back-marker Josh Wates received the Dave Carsberg young player of the season trophy, while David Owens' 21-goal haul, from 31 appearances, earned for him the leading scorers' gong.

Bradley Williams, on target 15 times in 18 games, took the A team's top marksman award.

Like Jenyons, Ollie Jones was a double-winner too.

He received the manager's player of the year prize as well as being nominated by his teammates.

Jimmy Evans dished out a Chairman's awards to three players; Mark Evans, Graham Brotherton and Will Edwards, as well as a Clubman of the year trophy for photographer John Rowan.

Meanwhile Reds can continue to boast of having one of the best playing surfaces at their level in the county after Brian Deeley finished as runner-up in Cheshire FA's groundsman of the year category for clubs playing at step seven.

It is the fourth time in the past five years that his work on the pitch at Manchester Road has been recognised at the governing body's own annual awards ceremony.

Knutsford have confirmed that pre-season training will start at the end of this month.

They will also host neighbours Witton Albion, who play in the Northern Premier League's second tier, in a friendly on Saturday, July 16, kick off 3pm.
