TALENTED youngsters from across the region descended on Knutsford at the weekend to take part in a prestigious football tournament.
More than 200 teams played in the Egerton Classic, hosted by the Mereheath Lane Club, during two days of competition.
Knockouts ran for sides ranging from under sevens to under 14s, with all players in the youngest age groups receiving medals to mark their participation.
While most of the visitors came from Cheshire or Greater Manchester, one side travelled south from Scotland to compete in Egerton’s biggest event of 2016.
The club’s chairman, Tom O’Donnell, hailed the weekend as a fun one for all concerned and confirmed the event had again been a huge success.
“It was a fantastic tournament in which all the players seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves,” he said.
“It was a record turnout, and great to see so many people down at Egerton having fun taking part in this brilliant event.”
