KNUTSFORD hope to book a JB Parker Challenge Cup final spot this weekend.

Reds visit fellow Cheshire League top flight side Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds in the competition’s last four this Saturday, having beaten their hosts 1-0 in the league in January.

Scott Dignan’s side’s Premier Division game at Malpas was called off last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch.

Chairman Jimmy Evans says Knutsford trained instead on Saturday in preparation for this weekend’s cup clash with Greenalls.

“We are praying for a decent spell of weather as the pitch is well saturated and water tables at their highest ever levels,” he added.

“It is yet another game called off due to weather. The first team have had nine games postponed over the past 16 weeks and the A team have only managed to play six games in the past 19 weeks.”

Cheshire League neighbours Egerton suffered the same fate, with their trip to Tarporley Victoria in the JA Walton Challenge Cup also surrendering to the weather.

Egerton, bottom of Cheshire League One, can climb out of the drop zone with a win at fellow strugglers Daten on Saturday.

It could prove a crucial tie for the Yellows, who lost 1-0 in the return game back in October.

Knutsford A will host Altrincham Hale at Manchester Road in the Altrincham and District FA Senior Cup semi finals the same day, kick off 2pm.

Manchester Road is also due to host the Cheshire Sunday Cup semi final between Millhouse FC and Buck Inn this weekend, kick off 11am.
