BROOK Street A confounded expectation to win the the league's Three Player title on Sunday.

Andy Long, Gary Long and Bob Jones combined to see off hosts Mobberley A, runners-up last season, in the first round.

They then despatched Morley A before beating defending champions Mobberley B in the final.

TONY Crompton, runner-up in the Knutsford and District Amateur League's Jay Trophy in each of the past three seasons, progressed to the last eight of this year's edition on Wednesday.

A 2-0 success against Francis Evans, of Brook Street, sets up a quarter-final date with Andy Long (Brook Street A).

Morley's Paul Hart, crowned champion in 2013 and again 12 months later, is through too.

Players from six clubs have reached the next round, scheduled for the end of February.
