OLIVER Webb’s aim during the World Endurance Championship’s final round this weekend is to help his team climb the standings.
The Knutford driver helped Team SARD Morand to fourth position in China last time out – the Swiss outfit’s fourth successive top-five result since failing to finish the Le Mans 24-hour race.
They head to Bahrain buoyed by an improved performance from their LMP2 class machine.
“Our pace was good throughout and – for the second race in a row – we beat the lap record for a Morgan chassis,” said Webb.
“We’ll keep pushing now for a podium in the final round.”
Saturday’s six-hour race is scheduled to start at midday, preceded by qualifying on Friday afternoon.
Team SARD Morand occupy fifth place in the FIA Endurance Trophy for their category, 11 points adrift of Signatech Alpine – with whom Webb was a title-winner last year – in fourth.
