Knutsford 7 Macclesfield 0

SEVEN different players were on target for Knutsford on Saturday, when they put behind them the disappointment of losing at leaders Keswick the previous week.

They stay fourth in the North West Men’s League Division Two standings as a result.

Jonny Price opened the scoring after 11 minutes, calmly slotting home, before Jim Halling doubled the Black Knights’ tally when he applied a finishing touch at the back post.

The visitors were struggling to cope with the speed of Keelan Sherwani and Max Berkeley on the wing, and that duo claimed a goal apiece either side of the interval.

Sherwani’s miss-hit bobbled into the corner, then Berkeley struck at the end of a penetrating run.

Knutsford remained in control during the second half, when goalkeeper Tom Wright stopped every shot Macc players sent in his direction.

Mat Hodge scooped in a fifth goal for the home team, then captain Dave Price added a sixth with a first-time attempt from the top of the D.

Tom Howard completed the scoring from close range after reacting quickest when Jonny Price’s initial effort was diverted into his path.

Knutsford are scheduled to visit back-markers Wrexham Glyndwr this Saturday.
