ADAM Jenkinson claimed a second podium finish of the season during the National Superstock 1000 Championship’s concluding round on Sunday.

The Knutsford rider, second at Brands Hatch in April, was third at the Kent circuit this time around on board his Northern Escalator Installations-backed BMW.

It leaves him fifth overall in the series’ final standings.

“To end the year on the podium is brilliant,” said the 31-year-old.

“It’s the perfect way to finish, and I want to stay thanks to the team for sticking by me when I was out injured.

“They believed in me, and we’ve reached the end of 2015 on a high after switching to the BMW for the final few races.”

Jenkinson missed the meetings at Snetterton and Knockhill after hurting his hand during a crash at Donington Park at the end of May.

He has spent the past three rounds adjusting to a new machine, and set the sixth fastest time during qualifying on Saturday.

After slipping to seventh Jenkinson made the most of crashes that ended early the involvement of rivals further up the field, slipping past Luke Quigley’s BMW in the 14-lap sprint’s closing stages.

Jenkinson said: “I went a bit too steady early on when the track was damp, and by the time I got going the front group had broken away.

“I had a good tussle with Luke; it was nip and tuck until the end.

“With it being the last race of the season, I had a feeling something might happen at the front so I put myself in the best possible position to capitalise.”
