LUKE Shaw’s club record haul of six tries was a highlight for Knutsford as they recovered from an opening-day defeat.
He burst through a gap in their depleted opponents’ defence to open the scoring, followed quickly by Oliver Meageher exploiting space left for him to touch down after George Halpin had collected the ball at a lineout.
Sam Groves’ stunning solo try, including a 60-metre run before crossing the line between the posts, extended the visitors’ lead.
Declan Yoxhall was next to add his name to a growing list of try-scorers, running on to Fergus Grieves’ inch-perfect grubber kick.
Shaw went over twice to complete a personal hat-trick before the break, and there was still time for Grieves to get in on the act when he ghosted over.
The patter was the same in the second period, with Shaw increasing his tally to six tries.
Yoxhall, Groves and Meageher all touched down again, while another measured Grieves’ kick sent Matt Hewson in for another score.
Knutsford can expect a tougher test when North West Colts League Junior Division D leaders Tarleton – victors in each of their matches so far – visit this Sunday, kick off 12.30pm.
