DAVE Price is confident Knutsford can be contenders for promotion to the North West Men’s League’s top flight this season.
He takes over as the Black Knights’ captain after Mat Hodge stood down following an eight-year stint in the role.
“We’ve always been there or thereabouts when competing at this level,” he said.
“But I truly believe we now have a squad that is capable of putting down a marker.”
A number of players have switched to Knutsford from South Cheshire, who have disbanded.
And they will get a first taste of competitive action when the Black Knights host neighbours Lymm in the Cheshire Plate this Sunday, push back 1.30pm.
A family fun day takes place at Knutsford Leisure Centre beforehand, starting at 10.30am.
Price added: “The fun day is a curtain-raiser for our cup match, and we’d love to see anybody interested in playing for the club this year coming along to join us.”
