Gamesley 3 Knutsford 4

LEE Manion's winner clinched victory for Knutsford on Saturday, keeping them at the table's summit.

The midfielder’s strike, with quarter of an hour left, secured maximum points for Scott Dignan’s side in the Cheshire League's top flight following a seven-goal thriller.

David Owens added to a Manion brace with a double of his own to cancel out efforts from Thomas Burns, Michael Dewhurst and Adam Oakes for the home team.

Reds goalkeeper John Stanway had been called upon to save low to his left, pushing the ball onto an upright, before Manion broke the deadlock with a drive from the edge of the box.

James Pickford combined with Manion combined shortly afterwards, the latter finding Owens who deftly lobbed the hosts' custodian for Knutsford’s second.

Gamesley scored twice in as many minutes to restore parity, Burns converting a cross-field pass before Oakes claimed an equaliser.

After an hour, they were ahead thanks to Dewhurst's strike.

That lead lasted only two minutes, Myers assisting strike partner Owens to add his second.

Then, with 15 minutes remaining, Manion fired into the far corner to settle the outcome.

Reds visit Poynton this Saturday, then Sandbach United next Tuesday.

Knutsford: Stanway (GK), Lynch, Jenyons, Torbitt (Wates), Cartner, Scott (Rutter), Beattie, Manion, Pickford, Owens, Myers.
