KNUTSFORD drew for only the second time this term in the Cheshire Alliance when they visited Old Parkonians on Saturday.

The hosts made 181-5 after winning the toss for a game reduced by rain to 32 overs per side, Greg Lindop (43no) and Sean Marnick (37) their leading scorers.

Adnan Ghazanfar returned figures of 2-45 from a 13-over spell, while Muhammad Roshan took 2-69.

Knutsford reached 100-8 in reply, with Ghazanfar (41) completing a fine afternoon with support from first-team debutant Rob Vaughan (22no).

Ben Daniel was the only other batsman to reach double figures.

In the top flight, Holmes Chapel suffered a three-wicket defeat at Glazebury, where they posted 155-7 after batting first.

Opener Glenn Tift (33) and Andrew Thorburn (31no) led the way.

The home team secured victory though thanks to Wayne Hargreaves (94no), who carried his bat, while Krish Bhardwa claimed 3-52.

In the Cheshire County League, Mobberley suffered a surprise 88-run reverse at Congleton in Division Two.

Tom Leese (122) struck a century in the hosts’ tally of 233-7, with Abdul Aqeel taking four wickets.

Mobberley mustered 145 in reply, led by Will Berisford-Ince (36), while John Copeland returned match-winning figures of 7-25 from 11 overs.

Ashley endured a day to forget in the Cheshire League’s second tier, collapsing to 34 all out in a 10-wicket humbling by promotion-chasing Winnington Park.

Chelford fared little better, succumbing for 88 in an eight-wicket reverse against Oakmere in the same section.

Over Peover at least avoided defeat in Division Three, holding out for a draw against Port Sunlight after their guests had totalled 284.
