KNUTSFORD'S Simon Hill was in action racing his two litre VW Golf GTi Mark 5 at Oulton Park at the weekend in the two VW Golf Mk5 Production GTi Series races, with some success.
In the first race, a poor start saw him drop from third to fifth by the first corner, but some very determined driving brought him up to second by the end of that lap.
On the final lap, while challenging for the lead, a mistake caused Hill to drop back and he settled for second place at the finish – as well as gaining the prestigious fastest lap.
In the second race, an excellent start from second on the grid saw him in the lead exiting the first corner, eventually finishing second for another trip to the podium.
