KNUTSFORD slipped to a loss by 13 runs at Maritime in the Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division Two on Saturday.

Maritime won the toss, batted and were bowled out for 109.

Rasel Ahmed helped himself to four wickets, while Adnan Ghazanfar chipped in with three and Asumon Ahmed took two.

Mustak Masud Tayuf took the final wicket.

But in reply, the visitors were bowled out for just 96.

Shake Shimul top scored with 35 before the wicket keeper fell lbw.

In Division One, home side Holmes Chapel won by 72 runs.

They saw off the threat of visitors Trafford Metrovick to consolidate fourth spot in the league, with a game in hand on the top three.

Holmes Chapel won the toss, batted and made 217-6 with V Bhardwa hitting an unbeaten century on 117.

D Steer also made 43 to help Chapel to a healthy total.

For Trafford Metrovick, S Haughton took 3-57.

In reply, Trafford Metrovick were bowled out for 145 with A Harrison making 58.

For Holmes Chapel, K Bhardwa took an impressive 6-30 to help seal for the hosts the majority of the points.

Promoted Mobberley rose to second place in the Cheshire County League Division Two when they maintained their winning run by hammering Widnes at Church Lane on Saturday.

Former Lancashire starlet Nathan Wood top-scored with 53 and Mark Goodstadt made 51 in Mobberley’s tally of 210.

Danny Moore took 4-54 in reply.

Widnes were all bowled out for 123 by Abdul Aqeel’s 6-46 (Chris Kirby 49) before dashing back home for the club’s 150th anniversary ball.
