KNUTSFORD’S batsmen were rewarded with a win after they posted their biggest total of the season in the Cheshire Alliance on Saturday.

Teenager Muhsin Ali (54) led the way with a half-century as they reached 191-8, with Rassul Ahmed (48) and captain Zain Ali (31) – making his 100th appearance for the Mereheath Lane outfit – contributing too at Mellor.

Adnan Ghazanfar (3-14) and Ris Husnain (3-38) then combined to dismiss the hosts for 103 after tea.

Knutsford seconds were hammered by their Wistaston counterparts, who amassed 258-4.

Rob Vaughn (24) top-scored in the hosts’ reply, but they fell 142 runs short after being skittled for 116.

Mark Rebbeck’s unbeaten century was a highlight for Holmes Chapel in a draw with Saughall in the Alliance top flight.

He hit 112, with Glenn Tift and Vish Bhardwa (both 36) providing support in the hosts’ 233-9.

Their guests replied with 190-6, Bhardwa taking 3-47.

In the Cheshire County League, Mobberley became the first team this term to beat Bollington.

The hosts totalled 240-5, led by Abdul Aqeel (56no) and 49 from Matt Mountney.

Bolly looked likely winners at 222-6, but collapsed after Sabir Mallie (50) was dismissed by Charlie Neild (3-49).

Aqeel returned figures of 4-56 from 18 overs.

Ashley lost by three wickets at home to Stockport Trinity in the Cheshire League’s second tier, succumbing for 138 after winning the toss.

Captain Jake Cairns took 4-48, but Trinity reached their target at 139-7.

Chelford crushed Chester County Officers by 155 runs in the same section, while Over Peover suffered a one-wicket reverse at Wilmslow Wayfarers in Division Three.

David Owen (47) starred in the visitors’ 150 all out and, despite Alex Ingarjiola and Ben Nightingale taking three wickets each, Wilmslow squeezed home in the final over.
