KNUTSFORD Academy students represented Cheshire during an inter-counties match for the Mason Trophy on Saturday.

Katie Waterworth recorded a personal best, leaping 5.20m, to finish third in the junior girls’ long jump at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

Ben Healy classified sixth in the junior boys’ long jump, increasing his lifetime best to 5.41m.

Cheshire ranked second, behind overall winners West Midlands, in the final standings.

Both students had won silver medals, while representing Macclesfield, at the Cheshire Schools’ Track and Field Championships in Warrington seven days earlier.

The Academy’s Aimee Pratt set a new competition record of 4:59.0 – a national-standard performance – in the senior girls’ 1,500m steeplechase.

Jacob Lingard won the senior boys’ 400m in 51.3s, while took bronze in the inter girls’ 800m final after timing 2:23.4.
