KNUTSFORD’S cricketers have ended a wait to win a first match on the pitch this season in the Cheshire Alliance.

Bowlers Riswan Husnain (4-17) and Rasel Ahmed (4-39) combined to dismiss Norbury for 82 on Saturday, a target reached by the visitors for the loss of five wickets.

Mohsin Ali, aged 15, anchored their reply.

Knutsford have another win to their name, but only because Eastham conceded a scheduled fixture in Division Two last month.

Rob Vaughan (68no) scored an unbeaten half-century for Knutsford seconds as they posted 170-3 against Hartford at the level below.

He shared in a partnership worth 100 runs with Ashish Abraham (27no) after Simon Hopton (35) had been dismissed.

However James Hodgkinson (92no) guided his side to a seven-wicket victory in 38 overs after tea.

Holmes Chapel recorded a third successive win in Division One, this time beating Stalybridge St Pauls by 106 runs.

Mark Rebbeck (95no) and captain Glenn Tift (31) scored at the top of the order as they made it to 197-7.

Neil Almond (3-29), Krish Bhardwa (2-31), Vish Bhardwa (2-8) and Mike Brandon (2-17) were all among the wickets when they toppled their opponents for 91.

In the Cheshire County League’s third tier, Mobberley extended a winning sequence to four matches after beating Irby by four wickets.

In-form Abdul Aqeel (4-29) was again the pick of the bowling attack as their guests were restricted to 119 all out.

Matthew Mountney (38no) then eased Mobberley to victory in 33 overs at 123-6.

Chelford edged visitors Ashley by 39 runs in Cheshire League Division Two, Mohammed Zaman (84 off 60 balls) hitting half-a-dozen sixes as they posted 159 all out at Peover Lane.

Ashley’s Jake Cairns took 5-52.

He was top scorer, with 24, when his side were sent back for 120 later in the day. Khurram Malik claimed 4-15 for the hosts.

Improving Over Peover made it three wins in succession after beating Winsford in Division Three.

Set a target of 148 to win, they reached the marker with five wickets to spare thanks to a fine half-century from Jon Bodimeade (67).
