MOBBERLEY celebrated a third win from their past four Cheshire County League matches following a six-wicket success against Alvanley on Saturday.

They restricted their guests to 151-5 after asking them to bat first, Australian Charlie Nield (3-51) and in-form Abdul Aqeel (1-49) leading the hosts’ attack.

Nield (88no) and Nathan Wood (44) then put on 65 runs for the second wicket to take their team to victory in just 33 overs.

On Thursday, Mobberley had fallen to a nine-wicket defeat at home to higher-ranked Bramhall in the Joseph Holt Brewery T20.

After totalling 133-2, with Nield (36) their leading scorer, they could not prevent Atiq uz-Zaman (103no off 41 balls) from bulldozing his way to victory.

Knutsford’s scheduled trip to Eastham in the Cheshire Alliance was aborted after their hosts conceded.

Rahul Ahmed (59) and Rob Vaughan (42no) led Knutsford seconds’ reply at home to Mossley, but the hosts called off their run chase at 203-9.

Earlier, Vaughan (3-49) had been the pick of their attack as the visitors posted 212-6.

Holmes Chapel hammered back-markers Tranmere Victoria by 146 runs in the Alliance top flight.

Mark Rebbeck (55) scored a half-century as Chapel made 203-5 before Krish Bhardwa ripped through the visitors’ batting line-up, taking 8-26, as they folded for 57.

A partnership worth 64 runs for the third wicket between opener James Mazarelo (50) and Subtain Baig (42) helped Ashley to 134-7 at Oakmere in the Cheshire League’s second tier.

Jake Cairns (5-28) and David Alves (4-31) combined to knock over their Northwich-based hosts for 120, securing a 14-run win.

Over Peover ended their wait for a first win in Division Three, beating Wilmslow by four wickets.

Set a target of 143 to win, skipper Tom Stubbs (61) made the biggest contribution to their 147-6.

Earlier, Jake Le Maitre had taken 3-32 in Wilmslow’s 142-9.
