TOFT’S batsmen, led by England age-group international Rob Jones, made sure they lead the way in the Cheshire County League’s top flight by beating Bramhall.
Set a target of 210 to win, they reached their target with five wickets – and as many overs – to spare thanks to an unbroken partnership worth 63 runs between Jones (78no) and 16-year-old Sam Hatcher (44no off 39 balls).
Jones shared stands too with skipper Toby Drummond (42), adding 72 for the fifth wicket, and Australian opener Jake Hancock (33).
Earlier, Bramhall had posted 209-8 after being put in.
Atiq uz-Zaman (62) batted aggressively before he was dismissed by Ed Stubbs’ smart catch off Jones’ bowling.
He added 72 runs for the third wicket with Tom Isherwood (43) before captain Nick Cantello (46no) made a contribution.
Jack Goode (3-41) was the hosts’ leading wicket-taker, while fellow seamer Matt Cornes’ 11-over spell cost only 15 runs.
It capped a winning week for Toft after they squeezed past Brooklands by two runs in their Joseph Holt Brewery T20 group-stage opener last Tuesday.
Hancock (67) led the way as the Knutsford outfit racked up 147-5, but they were made to sweat by their lower-ranked guests who closed on 145-7.
Jimmy Lomas and Nigel Muirhead took two wickets each.
Toft seconds beat their Bramhall counterparts by two wickets on Saturday, successfully chasing 183 to win.
Captain Paul Ashley secured victory in style too, hitting the game’s only six in the penultimate over after Luke Beesley (37) had made the biggest contribution further up the order.
Earlier, Muirhead (4-67) and Joe Stanley (4-43) had restricted the home team to 182-9.
On Sunday, Toft’s thirds suffered a narrow five-run defeat at their Stockport counterparts.
Paul Moore (4-19) led the visitors’ attack, which sent back the home team for 136.
However they failed to make the most of a favourable batting track, succumbing for 131.
