Penlake 2 Egerton 4

EGERTON’S final outing of the Cheshire League One season saw them move into fourth with victory at Penlake on Saturday.

Goals from Tim Beresford, Sean Mills, Ashley Wells and Shaun Carter for the Yellows overcame Alex Grisedale and Michael Riley efforts.

“The commitment from the players has been fantastic from start to finish,” said management team member Graham Egerton.

“It’s great for the boys, and the club, that we'll finish high up the table.”

Beresford volleyed home from close range to put the visitors ahead before Wells doubled their lead five minutes later from aset piece.

Penlake responded through Riley before the break, and it took until 10 minutes from time for a calm Carter finish to give Egerton breathing space.

The hosts replied once more through Grisedale, but Mills looped the ball home to secure maximum points for the Knutsford outfit.

Golborne Sports will pip them to fourth spot if they beat Penlake on Saturday.
