Knutsford u16 76 Oxton Parkonians u16 12

KNUTSFORD’S under 16s side stormed to county success with a mauling of Oxton Parkonians in the Cheshire RFU Vase final at Bowdon last weekend.

Blues completed their latest campaign with a trophy to mark the end of their stint as a junior team.

Starting strongly, they ran in a number of tries early in the first half to establish a solid base on which to build.

Oxton Parkonians battled bravely in reply, but were clearly the weaker side as the points began to mount.

Scrum half Luke Shaw, Knutsford’s man of the match, showed dazzling pace and agility that resulted in him touching down a hat-trick of tries.

Carlo Loregian also ran in a treble from centre as the Knutsford’s back-line dominated open play.

And a large contingent of supporters were rewarded with an outstanding display of fast, flowing rugby.

“This age group was the very first created within the club as under sixes more than a decade ago,” said coach Steve Davies.

“They’ve gone from strength to strength since, making progress year on year.

"It's a major milestone for the club that they'll now go on to play as colts."

Knutsford under 16s will play in the Raging Bull North West Colts League from next season.

They will discover later this summer which division they have been seeded to play in.

Members at Knutsford Rugby Club mark the end of the current campaign at their May Ball this Saturday.
