TOFT climbed to the county league summit following a seven-wicket defeat of Cheadle on Saturday in the only Premier Division fixture to reach a conclusion.

In a contest that lost only 25 overs to rain, the visitors posted 220-7 after being put in by the Knutsford outfit.

Their top three batsmen, including Elliot Bullock (54), were removed by seamers Jack Goode (2-48) and Matt Cornes (3-37) to catches behind the stumps by Jake Hancock.

From 36-4, Cheadle recovered following a rain delay thanks to a century stand between Will Holmes (78) and Paul Sperring (58) that secured batting bonus points

It left Toft with 33 overs to reach their target, and they raced to 80 without loss inside the first 10.

After James Drummond (37) was out, Rob Jones (42 off 31 deliveries) added 100 in 69 balls with in-form Hancock, who finished unbeaten on 127 from only 87 balls.

The Australian, scoring a century for the second successive Saturday, hit 18 fours and four sixes along the way as the hosts closed on 221-3.

They hope to repeat the trick at Grappenhall this weekend.

Toft seconds' trip to Cheadle was abandoned after they had reached 107-2, with David Blackburn (39no) unbeaten at the crease.

They try again when Didsbury visit next at the weekend

On Sunday, the club's thirds beat their Cheadle counterparts by four wickets at Booth's Park.

The visitors could only manage 131-7 from their 45 overs against a home team attack that featured three members of the Muirhead family - chairman Nigel along with sons Josh and George.

Together, they claimed 4-46 from 17 overs.

Toft eased to victory at 135-6 in 34 overs, opener Simon Howarth (56) leading the way with support from Scott Craig (24) and Ewan Williams (22).
