KNUTSFORD'S footballers continue to lead the way in the Cheshire League, at least for now.

Reds came from 2-0 down to rescue a point at title rivals Linotype in their final fixture last Wednesday, when Liam Myers' spectacular volley with time running out completed a comeback for Scott Dignan's men.

A draw leaves them ahead on goal difference at the table's summit although Linotype and Eagle, who both play tomorrow, Thursday, have games still remaining.

The men from Manchester Road, during an uncharacteristically ugly performance, fell behind seven days ago when Leon Grandison punished sloppy defending shortly after half time.

He then curled in a superb second on 65 minutes following Nehru McKenzie's stylish dribble.

Knutsford's rally began when player boss Dignan picked out David Owens, who squeezed a shot inside the near upright to claim a 27th goal of the campaign.

They pressed for a leveller that arrived with two minutes left, Myers shooting past the hosts' goalkeeper after substitute Sean Lynch had cushioned a header into his path.

Only an unlikely combination of results will lead to them being crowned Premier Division champions for a third time in the past four years.

Meanwhile Henry Scutt's hat-trick was a highlight for Knutsford A as they thrashed West Didsbury & Chorlton reserves 7-1 on Thursday.

Already crowned champions, Reds' second string turned on the style with further goals for Dominic Baker, Mark Evans and substitutes Jordan Gunter and Jacob Millett.

They visit Wythenshawe tomorrow, Thursday, before completing the campaign at home to Moore on Saturday.
