KNUTSFORD are waiting to see if they will end the season in sixth or seventh spot.
A 5-3 home defeat to fourth-placed South Cheshire at the weekend leaves the Black Knights in sixth place in Barrington Sports North West Hockey League Division Two at the completion of their 2014-15 fixtures.
They could still be overtaken by eighth-placed Lancaster University, who are two points behind going into their final game today at Bowdon thirds – a team needing a victory to be sure of finishing runners-up to table-toppers Blackpool.
Knutsford’s campaign ended with a fifth defeat in six games – and their sixth home loss of a term that yielded eight wins and two draws.
Two of their goals against South Cheshire came in the last five minutes, one being player-of-the-match Jonny Price’s second goal of the day while his brother Dave also found the target.
