Ellesmere Port 2nds 0 Holmes Chapel 50

HOLMES Chapel continued a march to the title in North West Intermediate League Division Five South on Saturday.

They recorded a 17th successive victory in all competitions, one that keeps a 100 per cent league record intact.

Skipper Tom Chambers hopes his table-topping side can continue that form this weekend in the Lighting and Building Services Plate last 16 at Vale of Lune fourths.

“We were strong in defence and clinical in attack – there was nobody on the pitch who didn’t give everything,” he said afterwards.

“I really hope we can take this attitude into next week’s cup game.”

Chambers put the first points on the board for Chapel on Saturday, breaking from a scrum and providing support to his centre to score.

A flurry of tries followed for the visitors with Jed Wragg, Mark McEnaney and Dave Steer were among those to touch down.
