MOBBERLEY Victory Hall reached the Cheshire County Bowling Association’s Norman Cup quarter finals in thrilling fashion at the weekend.
After drawing at 202-across with South Manchester RBL at Parkside, they progressed to the last eight following an extra five ends.
Their reward is a head-to-head with Crewe-based Hop Pole next month.
Meanwhile the Knutsford Bowling League’s representatives in the Cheshire Senior Merit enjoyed contrasting fortunes at Coppenhall, in Crewe, on Sunday.
Steve Baskerville, from Knutsford BC, bowed out at the first round stage following a 21-11 defeat against Kevin Wainwright (Stockport & District).
However Good Companions’ Robert Eaton finished as runner-up after losing 21-14 to Steve Morrey (South Cheshire) in the final.
He had beaten Dave Read (21-16), Chris Koral (21-15) and Matt Thurlwell (21-17) to get there.
His reward is to represent the county at the British Crown Green Bowling Association Individual Senior Merit next month.
