MOTORSPORT: Bad luck halts Adam
ADAM Jenkinson clocked a lifetime best lap during qualifying at Snetterton for Sunday’s Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship race.
After starting from the grid’s front row, the Knutsford rider was challenging for the lead on board his Team Direct CCTV SBR-prepared Kawasaki when the sprint was stopped following a crash caused by oil on the circuit.
In a re-run over six laps later in the day, Jenkinson placed seventh overall.
“It’s not what I’d hoped for but I still put points on the board,” he said afterwards.
“I felt confident and the bike had good pace, but I struggled with gearbox issues after the restart so couldn’t help falling back a few positions on track.”
At the front, Hudson Kennaugh repeated his victory of last season in the corresponding round after beating Danny Buchan by 0.890s with Filip Backlund completing the list of podium finishers.
“Adam looked comfortable before the red flag – I was gutted when I saw the safety car,” said team boss Steve Brogan.
The series resumes in Scotland, at Knockhill, before the end of the month.
