MOBBERLEY, denied promotion to the Vivio Cheshire County League last summer only after a points deduction, were winners on the new season’s opening day.

Armand Wolmarans was their hero on Saturday, taking seven wickets on his debut to help dismiss hosts Hale Barns for 130.

The visitors cruised to their victory target in 33 overs after tea, when Abdul Aqeel (44no) built on a foundation laid by openers Nathan Wood (35) and Will Berisford-Ince (29) who put on 59 runs for the first wicket.

Ashley, relegated to TACS Partnership Cheshire League Division Two at the end of last term, won by 36 runs at Langley.

They set their hosts a target of 184 to win after skipper Subtain Baig (58), plus a contribution from opener Andy Wood (36), helped the men from Railway Field to 183-6.

Langley were dismissed for 147, with Farukh Subhani (5-22) doing most of the damage.

Chelford lost by a single wicket at Bunbury in the same section.

Only four batsmen made it past 10 for the away team as they were dismissed for 118. They later pushed the hosts hard before they secured victory at 119-9.

In Division Three, Over Peover went down by 51 runs at newly-promoted Wilmslow Wayfarers.

The home team posted 194-5 after winning the toss before knocking over their guests for 143.

Jon Bodimeade (34) top-scored for the men from Well Bank Lane.
