OLYMPIC Games champion Sir Chris Hoy swapped two wheels for four when making his debut in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park.
The Mere driver celebrated a top 10 finish in Monday’s opening race behind the wheel of a Nissan GT Academy Team RJN Nissan GT-R he shares with Alex Buncombe.
“That was brilliant fun!” he said afterwards.
“There were a few exciting moments, and my rear-view mirror was full of Ferrari for most of my run but I stayed focused on what I was doing and made sure I did correctly.”
The duo followed that with 13th place in race two.
Hoy, in only his second full season racing cars, picked up eight places following a period behind the safety car.
He said: “It’s a privilege to be part of the series.
“The two races confirmed how much I enjoy racing – I’ve definitely got the bug.”
The series resumes at Rockingham next month.
