A HOST of Knutsford Vikings clocked personal bests in the second round of the Peaks and Plains league at Nantwich Seals.

Vikings, coached by Ian Bland and Nicola Jones, had 10 swimmers securing best times and also romped to victory in several relay events.

Bland said: “The Canon – the pinnacle of the gala – sees each club entering a team of eight swimmers, four girls and four boys – one from each age group.

“They swim in age order from youngest to oldest.

“All the team’s hard work in training paid off, as flawless relay takeovers saw the Knutsford Vikings win the most fought over event of the gala.”

Georgia Ban-Murray got the under 12s girls’ medley team off to a flying start and Ryan Hart touched first in the backstroke leg of the under 12s boys’ medley relay.

The under 10s girls’ freestyle relay team of Lucia Oram, Rose Ratcliffe, Rebecca Nixon and Grace Gildart-Butler came narrowly second. The boys’ and the girls’ under 16s freestyle relay teams also came in second.

Vicky Hewett took third in the under 14s girls’ backstroke, while Ellen Thomas scooped wins in under 14s girls’ fly and backstroke.

Miles Dolman won the under 14s boys’ backstroke.

Vikings sit third with two galas to come.
