CHAMPIONS Mobberley A were made to work when protecting their perfect record in the Knutsford and District Amateur League at Wilmslow Cons A this week.

The Division One pacesetters, 19 points better off than their closest rivals, edged their hosts by the odd frame in seven to extend an unbeaten sequence in the top tier to a huge 64 matches.

Mobberley B occupy second spot in the standings after a routine home win against Tatton. Elsewhere Morley beat Wilmslow Cons B 5-2, while back-markers Mobberley C lost on their own table against Wilmslow RBL to leave them seven points adrift of a position of safety.

In Division Two, Shaw Heath B continue to set the pace after a whitewash of rock-bottom Mere C. They lead the way by 10 points.
