KNUTSFORD Triathlon Club member Lucy Scott has been crowned Junior Female Sprint Champion and overall Female Sprint champion at the Northwest Region Triathlon Awards.

The 17-year-old has made an impressive start to her senior career, conquering a challenging field in her first senior race at Boundary Park when she was just 16, making her the youngest competitor in the race.

The course, which consisted of 750m open water swim, a 25km cycle and 5km run, was also her first attempt at that distance.

Meanwhile Knutsford Tri Club members were in action at Sherdley Park, in St Helens, in the third round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League on Saturday.

Richard Kellett finished narrowly outside the top 100 in the senior men’s race, timing 40:12. Clubmate Paul Wain clocked 41:53, placing inside the top 25 in the men’s over 45s class.

John Goggins was 142nd in 42:27 ahead of Ewan Holton who reached the finish in 43:41.

Helen Murray was 35th in the senior women’s race in 29:38, with Kate Mills 40th and Claire Hebbelthwaite 72nd.
