KNUTSFORD drivers were on track as part of Oulton Park race circuit’s 60th birthday party at the weekend.
Jon Sykes raced two cars owned by his friend Paul Hogan; a road legal two-litre Triumph TR3S in the Historic Road Sports Championship and a single-seater Merlyn in the Historic Formula Junior series.
He battled a brakes problem en route to 19th place in the former, crossing the line fifth at the end of the Formula Junior sprint after a race-long battle with a rival.
Bernard Brock, also from Knutsford, followed him across the line in his 1100cc Elva 100 after climbing through the field from 11th.
He had started in eighth place.
