Amateur darts players could earn a shot at UK Open glory
AMATEUR darts players in the north west are being given the chance to take part in the ‘FA Cup of Darts’, the UK Open, at a qualifying event at Old Trafford football ground on Wednesday, April 17.
Hosted by the event’s sponsors Speedy, players hoping to realise a lifelong dream to play in one of the world’s most famous tournaments can now take their first steps by clicking on sports.speedyservices.com and registering for the Northern qualifier.
Registered entrants will embark on a 15-dart challenge, with the highest 16 scores then playing in best of three-leg games of 501 to decide which eight players will make it through to play at the Speedy Services UK Open in Bolton from June 6-9.
The event will be one of four qualifiers across the country, which also includes events at Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall, home of the PDC’s Grand Slam of Darts, Hampden Park in Glasgow and World Championship venue Alexandra Palace in London.
