JAKE O’Neill did not lose a match en route to winning the Knutsford and District Amateur League’s Jack Tulley Young Player of the Year competition.
The Wilmslow RBL man edged home player Adam McNeil into second place at Mobberley last weekend.
Playing round robin matches to decide the victors, O’Neill was most consistent in a series of high quality matches decided the colours.
Mere duo Tom Jackson and Matthew Owen were third and fourth respectively.
In Division One, the race to finish as runners-up to champions Mobberley A continued with Wilmslow Cons A taking over the position as a reward for beating rock-bottom Mere A.
Mobberley B ceded the place after dropping three points against Morley, despite winning four of the six frames place.
Mobberley A defeated Tatton, while Brook Street thrashed Wilmslow Cons B.
A top of the table clash in Division Two, between leaders Mobberley C and Wilmslow RBL, was played against a tragic backdrop following the sudden death of the visiting team captain’s wife the previous day.
They finished level on aggregate, but did not apply a league that says a victor should be determined by a re-spotted black in the last frame to finish.
As a result Wilmslow were awarded a 4-2 win, closing to within eight points of first place.
There was conflicting success for Knutsford Cons’ representatives; their A team were 6-1 winners at Mere C, but Cons B went down at Wilmslow Cons C.
On Thursday, promotion-chasing Shaw Heath dropped three points while Mere B’s Sam Jackson cued a 34 break in his side’s whitewash of Mobberley D.
Week 23, Division One: Brook Street 6 Wilmslow Cons B 1; Mobberley B 4 Morley 3; Tatton 2 Mobberley A 5; Wilmslow Cons A 5 Mere A 2. Division Two: Knutsford Cons A 6 Mere C 1; Mere B 7 Mobberley D 0; Mobberley C 2 Wilmslow RBL 4; Shaw Heath B 4 Royal London 3; Wilmslow Cons C 5 Knutsford Cons B 2.
