HOLDERS Eagle Sports booked their place in the JB Parker Challenge Cup last four after beating Cheshire League champions Knutsford on Saturday, writes Kat Davey.

They edged a close encounter 2-1, taking the lead when Reds’ defender Richard Smart put through his own goal.

Carlos Edmondson headed an equaliser for the visitors, only for Ged McAllister to nod home the winner for the Warrington outfit from Nathan Williams’ free kick.

Their reward is a semi finals date with Lostock Gralam.

The Grey Lambs were on the receiving end of the day’s biggest drubbing in Division One, shipping seven goals at Gamesley with Michael Dewhurst on target five times.

Manager Ross Speight labelled it the visitors’ worst performance in six years.

Styal sit ninth in the table after putting four goals without reply past Pilkington, while third-placed Denton Town shared the spoils with improving Middlewich Town.

Danny Clarke’s penalty earned Garswood United maximum points from their trip to Linotype.

His free kick was deflected in by a defender to break the deadlock before Sam Pollard restored parity for the home team.

Rudheath Social climbed to the Division Two summit after easing to a 4-0 win at home to league newcomers Penlake.

Gary Bryning, from the penalty spot, Mike Brandon, Craig Humphries and Ryan Baker – via a stunning volley – were on target for the in-form Northwich outfit.

Barnton’s defensive frailty was exposed at Malpas, where the two teams shared eight goals.

Doubles for Alex Hailes and Joe Sumner accounted for the hosts’ tally, while co-manager Kevin Towey, Marc Radley and William Webb replied for the away team.

Golborne were victors at Tarporley Victoria, where Matty Hughes, Danny Kidd and Gary Shannon scored in a comfortable 3-1 success.

Poynton, at Congleton Vale, and Sandbach United – on their travels to Egerton – were the week’s other winners in Division Two.
