KNUTSFORD’S men returned to winning ways in style on Saturday, scoring six goals at Prescot.
The outcome was settled by the break after first half efforts from skipper Mat Hodge, plus a double for Andy Conway, put the Black Knights in charge.
Hodge fired in to finish a slick passing move, then Simon Trenbrith’s lofted pass put Conway in a position to swell the visitors’ tally soon afterwards.
When his chipped shot made it 3-0, Knutsford were home and hosed.
The pattern did not change in the second half, when Johnny Price found the net twice in quick succession.
A sixth goal followed after a fine breakaway led by Conway, who slipped an assist for Matt Lynes to notch a maiden goal in the first team’s colours.
There was frustration at the finish though, when Jay Punshon’s shut out was spoiled by Prescot converting a short corner.
Knutsford’s seconds cruised to a nine-goals victory at home to South Cheshire thirds in Division Five South, their first win of the season.
The hosts dominated from start to finish, claiming maximum points thanks to four goals from Richard Jones, plus further strikes from David Hickson, Nick Pedlow, Ed Higgs, David Riley and an own goal.
They climb to tenth place in the standings as a reward.
Neither of Knutsford’s ladies teams managed a goal, the second string on the wrong end of a heavy defeat against Chester fourths.
