A BRIDE tied the knot on Saturday in a wedding dress bought on eBay.
Collette Booth, 31, walked down the aisle in a champagne-coloured gown last worn by actress Gaynor Faye in the television series Fat Friends.
Collette had bid £230 for the dress in an auction to raise money for Cancer Research.
“The cause meant such a lot to me because two members of my family died of cancer,” she said.
After beating 28 others with her bid, Collette waited anxiously for the dress to arrive by post.
“When it came I discovered that it fitted perfectly,” she said.
She had intended to put in the loft until she and fiance Vinny, 33, could agree a date. But then he had a change of heart. “He thought since we had got the dress we might as well get married,” she said.
So the couple, who have an 18-month-old son Alex and run an IT business from offices in Booths Park, organised their big day in four weeks and wed at the Golden Pheasant in Plumley.
“Everybody was saying how fantastically it fitted,” said Collette.
“The height and length were perfect and I felt like a million dollars.
“My best friend said she couldn’t believe I’d won it on eBay.”
The dress will now be re-auctioned on eBay for the cancer charity.
“I had an amazing day and now it can go to make somebody else’s day,” she said.
