A NURSERY plans to install a fingerprint scanner on its door amid fears children could be abducted.

Kids Allowed said the state-of-the-art technology would ensure only parents and staff could enter the building in Mobberley Road, Knutsford.

"We cannot have just anyone wandering in," said personal assistant Sue Chadwick.

The new centre, due to open in six months, will employ a receptionist who signs visitors into the building.

Parents and staff will then have to type a code into a keypad on a nearby door.

Then, at the next door, their fingerprints will be scanned before they enter the nursery. Each unique print will have previously been entered into a computer system. CCTV cameras will also record visitors' images.

Mrs Chadwick said no one should be able to get into the centre without permission.

Mother-of-two Jennie Johnson founded Kids Allowed more than four years ago.

Work recently started on the 11,000sq ft nursery on the former Birkin Centre site in Mobberley Road.

Kids Allowed expects the business, which will create 50 jobs, to be open in January.

Staff could look after up to 140 children between six weeks and five-years-old.

There will also be holiday, breakfast and after school clubs for youngsters up to 11-years-old.

This is great news, cjildren will have added security and parents will feel much safer. Actually in my old university a company called M2SYS (www.m2sys.com) they started providing such security systems for child care facilities all over the campus. I am pretty sure it was apreciated by everyone and they enjoyed such service. Good positive step, creating new jobs, added security and no oppourtunity for security breah.
