A DANCE group from Knutsford Academy has reached the national final of a top competition.
In June, Knutsford Academy’s gifted and talented senior dance company ‘Ignition’ entered ‘Make Your Move’ 2014.
‘Dance: Make Your Move’ is the UK’s biggest charity dance competition in aid of the British Red Cross. Young people of all abilities aged four to 18 compete in local heats and area finals for the chance to perform live at the National Final at the O2 Arena in London.
On Saturday, June 28, ‘Ignition’ was successful in winning the regional final of the competition.
On reviewing Ignition’s piece after the first heat ‘One Voice’ the judges cited ‘Excellent choreography, so tight for such a big group…great pair working and a beautiful solo piece; a dramatic and powerful piece with great technical ability’.
In addition to this the company has been awarded a Platinum certificate for their fundraising efforts in which they have so far raised more than £1,400 for the British Red Cross Charity.
Ignition will now travel to London to perform in the National final at the O2 arena on July 13.
Lisa Scott, head of dance at Knutsford Academy, said: “Ignition would like to thank those who have supported their cause so far and would further appreciate any additional backing that could be given by the local community through their on line donation page.
“Please sponsor their dance and help them make their move for people in crisis here in the UK and across the world.”
