AT High Legh WI’s AGM, retiring President Norma Wright thanked all the Committee and the Members for their support and hard work over three very memorable years. High Legh WI now has 66 members who in 2015 have enjoyed a great programme of speakers; some wonderful trips to the theatre and places of interest; and some very active and successful special interest groups including craft, walking, books, darts, bowling, golf and quizzes. There have been many high profile WI events this Centenary Year, however Norma said that the event which gave her most pleasure was when we got together for “High Tea at High Legh”. We looked up and admired the hand crafted bunting that we all worked together to design, so it could illustrate what our WI means to each and every member. Afternoon Tea was, of course, expertly prepared and served. It was a celebration of friendship and working together.

Jean Evans was elected President and commenced her term of office by inviting Olywn to give us a very amusing and inspiring demonstration of making Christmas floral arrangements.

We admired our craft group’s collection of handmade tree ornaments that will be on display on the WI Tree at the Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church, High Legh from 10am to 6pm on December 4 and 5 and on December 6. Regular WI meetings will commence at 7.30pm on January 12 with a talk on Here and There in Britain by Pam and Dave Greenwood at High Legh Village Hall. Everyone is welcome.
