Over Peover WI by Viv Cunningham

President June Leach welcomed member to this month’s meeting of Over Peover WI and was ably assisted by Helen Skelton.

The plans for several trips were discussed including Chester Cathedral. Julie Haighton informed us of proposed social events including the AGM and Christmas dinner. A walk around the Lake at Tatton was planned and the inaugural meeting of the new embroidery group. The President asked Viv Cunningham to give a brief overview of the job of Press officer as she is moving away and needs a successor. Viv also took the opportunity to thank her fellow WI members for their friendship over the last 7 years by singing Cole Porter’s You’re The Top. She was presented with the President’s table plant and a card signed by the members.

Gill Adlington, who is a member of Warmingham WI, gave an impressive demonstration of oil painting. She certainly made it look easy as she built up her composition with layers of colour on the background – finishing with the finer detail. The finished painting was raffled and the lucky winner was Angela Eccles.

Helen Norbury and Bernie Byrne served tea and home-made refreshments. Meetings are at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of the month at Over Peover Village Hall. There is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and speakers are invariably of a very high standard as are the home-made cakes and tea to follow. New members are always welcome.
